For me if someone puts casual I then check out their profile in more detail for clues. It can be interpreted in many ways and that’s the risk of using that word.

I don’t think it’s disregard for others feelings..guys are ruled by their hormones and it drives them…but it’s the way their minds compute…
I don’t like the word ‘ casual ‘ and my posts depict that …more truth in the Mars and Venus story 😁…than we think.
I agree profiles can be deceptive and I have always said that ‘creative ‘ content is not always good because it just indicates that you can make a great CV but the personality isn’t there….sadly

Casual encounters sounds too laid back really, just a booty call where sex is involved once in a while .

On the other hand, some profiles are impeccable and genuine sounding, but it's obvious it's just a casual encounter they're after which is off putting as well. The eagerness and plain disregard for the other persons feelings is a let down.

I take casual initially to mean meet up every now and then nothing heavy. I don’t ignore people if that’s what their profile says because quite often when you get chatting they want different things and have just ticked that box. The ones who just want a one night stand seem to just say so

Count it as a blessing, if someone is judging you based on ticking boxes instead of actually asking you questions to understand what you are looking for, they aren't worth your time and its no loss.

Casual for me means a one night stand.
It means that someone is not interested in knowing you, just sex, ok for some but not for me.
Yeah, it can be confusing if someone says looking for one person to be casual with 🤔.

My problem when I first joined, a while ago now, is I ticked most of the boxes as I really did not know what I wanted. I think it means a lot of people just rejected you without getting to know you. Those after short term rejected you because of the long term box and those wanting long term or one partner rejected you because of the casual thinking you were after notches on a bed post. One person gave me the link to a swingers site telling me it would be better for me. Not what I was after. Later I refined my boxes I got to know more what I wanted and how people read those boxes.

This place is hard and for those of us who had not really dated since the 80's and 90's when all this did not exist, trying to define what you are after is not easy. My profile described more what I was after bit for some it was too late. Ah well cest la vie
