Lockdown Result!

I've met my (very first!) IE - we're meeting up frequently since lockdown has been eased. We are having so much fun, our feelings towards each other are so strong! I hope this lasts awhile, and doesn't fizzle out after the summer. How do you eventually deal with an IE breakup?

When everything is rosy it seems like nothing can go wrong ... Embrace this period !

Don’t fall too hard too fast, breakups can be really difficult particularly with a secret love interest.

Enjoy the ride but once the bumps in the road start to appear, slow down and drive carefully!

@Simpleman 1970

Possibly more because they usually play a passive role and can be on here indefinitely.

I have found that many of these encounters have a natural lifespan. Lockdown certainly put the brakes on my last affair, it just came to a natural ending. No big goodbye or break up.
I also assume that if the guy is still on here (this applies to me too) and active, then the liaison will be short lived.
It’s good therapy after an IE breakup to get back on here.

It can be hard but you just have to pick yourself up and find a new lover.

Well happy to say I don't know the answer.

My ie have done the deep stuff and we know it will end one day but we're both in it for the long haul.

However we know it will end one day which, as I'm 70 and he's 60 and has come through a bad dose of covid, could be by the death of one of us or infirmity, though we agree we are likely always to be friends and he is friendly with my husband who pursues his own interests.

I suppose one deals with it very much like a divorce but without the financial settlement.

That's one thing I don't want to find out. I've been seeing my IE for over two years now. I got found out so my marriage ended, but I'm not unhappy about that. Far from it. He was an emotional and mental abuser. Thought that might end things with my IE as my circumstances changed and his won't. But no it's still going strong and shows no sign of ever stopping. It's brilliant.

Don’t worry about how you deal with an IE breakup, you’ve only just met. Enjoy the moment. Carpe Diem!

To myself an affair is something that's missing in someone's life but needs to be romance too well there does for me and to get strong feelings for someone is a big no
