Real name vs alias
In the interest of being discreet, I generally do not give out my real name until I really know my IE partner. It's not that I'm hiding anything, but I've been burnt before so like to play it safe.
How do others feel about aliases and should we be disclosing our real names before we have sex?

In this day of internet scams, Facebook, Insta and all the like...it's very easy for a bit of a sleuth to find out your real identity.....I'm not thinking your potential IE, but your partner/wife/husband!
I would'nt give out my real name until I was 110% sure I could trust my IE....

There are a lot of names in the world and a lot of people share the same name so guess it is up to the individual to give real name or not

Got to be real first name from the start. Imagine if together in public and approached by someone you know. Not easy to explain away innocently if your IE is calling you a different name.

I donโt tell anyone my first name until I get to know and trust them which could take a matter of months or longer.
I use my nickname which as you get to know me more can easily be explained lol ๐๐.

In the event of being caught red handed, it would be difficult to explain why I was using a false name. An instant giveaway.

I don't think sex is the actual barrier or line in the sand here, it's trust. Do you trust this person? I use my real first name on here, but as it is an extremely common name, that's not a problem. Most of us with any experience of IE have probably had sex with someone without knowing all their details - even their full name. However, I expect that if you are going ahead and being intimate then you at least trust that this person connects with you.

A first date or two is a filter and to me it doesn't make sense to share personal details until you're comfortable with your potential new lover. Well, obviously certain personal details are fine!
Also it depends on circumstances - one lovely lady I met for a few years never wanted to know my real name, whereas another asked straight away.
