I'm maybe in the minority here but I like interesting and deep conversations.
I love to learn so someone who I can learn something new from, appeals to me.

I'm not looking for a full on comedian, so irritating and pointless banter isn't for me.

If they want sexy chat, there are endless phone sex chatlines who do it so much better than I ever will. I'm not a prude, I just find it boring.

I'm turned on by intellectuals.
I'm turned on by geeks.

If they mention the wife/partner, children, job, golf or their very important job, I'm already hovering over the block button.

Personally I like both... depends on the other people you're talking to?
Some people can be bloody hard work though and what generally happens to I give up !
Banter works well initially and generally then leads to something deeper

Short, sharp banter that reveals the depth of the person, sexual or otherwise. I find myself panting at his feet, to every syllable that comes from him.

As opposed to:

How was your day?
What do you like in bed?
How are you finding this site/any luck yet?
What are you looking for?
Etc etc. No no no no no 🥱

Diving straight in to intellectual topics straight away is a bit too full on for me, better to have some lighter chat and get to know each other and how each other communicates first is better I think.

Also purely sexual chat is a bit much imo, it’s better to mix it up a little.

I agree Blue eyes, Enigma and Boav..

Start of short, flirty and fun (like me!), as it progresses a bit more - it's nice to find out what you have in common, what interests you have etc. Not huge fan of what do you like sexually messages - lets discuss that when we meet! But for me whilst messaging is fun - much better to meet and chat in person :) as I think has been said on another thread messages can get misconstrued.

Ooh I struggled here. I like banter and going with the flow but then Apparently I misread the signs and got too keen. There is no non verbals here so how do you read the room.

One of the best times I had here, before I got too keen apparently , was a free flowing bit of chat and banter one evening for about an hour. Cheeky fun, flirting, some other things too. If nothing else I think we both enjoyed that.

I think for me be clear in communication and don't think the other person has understood things.the same way. If it is too little or too much say so then if they still don't follow back away but be honest and see where it goes.

In my case keenness led to being blocked so now I can't even explain about misunderstanding which is a shame. Good communication is key

I prefer a mix of humorous and cheeky banter and also intelligent conversations. They stimulate not only my mind but my body 😉😀.

Being able to talk about everything and anything is refreshing, stimulating and important to me.

If all someone can chat about is their boring day at the office or football or even the site 🥱🙄😴… To me they are not really interested in me, don’t know what to talk about or have nothing else to talk about.

As for the sexual chat… it gets boring, monotonous, less stimulating and more off putting after you have read the same innuendos and sexual comments over and over again 🙄🥱🤷🏼‍♀️.

Just my opinion.

Short with banter is a good start. But once you get a 'feel' of who's at the other end, deep and meaning get its own direction. Yes, I'm still referring to conversation when I say feel. 😉
