Like LG location and age might have been twerked as IE do not allow you to put that you are seeing someone (not sure why as surely it would show success rate 🤷🏻‍♀️)

I also have auto messages switched on so if I get any messages they’re deleted without reading. And have hidden status. Contrary to what someone implied just because I’m still on the site I’m not fishing for something better - I’m more than happy with what I have … it’s working well long may that continue. 😈

As I’ve said a million times I love the camaraderie here in the forums fun, advice and if things go wrong a understanding shoulder to cry on with others who know how you’re feeling

To be fair Lorelai, you're effectively living on an island not much off the coast of Norway in the North Sea, so I doff my hat to you that you've managed to get a match to start with!

It also gives me hope that someone in Kent should be able to manage something!

I make an effort with the messages. I read the profiles fully, the ones that have bothered to complete them that is, then pick a suitable subject title that's one of their important likes within the profile, or in some cases they specific a work or phrase to be used in the title to see you've bothered to read.

Then a custom or brief message in the text. Generally include my pw as most profiles state not to bother messaging if that's not included.

I assume that's the correct MO for this?

I could be wrong, but I think if someone has a hidden profile status you don’t get notified a message has been read.

Then some won’t read if overwhelmed with messages/not looking currently etc. plus an off putting username or message title I wouldn’t open (but assume that wouldn’t apply to you!)

You don't want to know how far I travel and I don't want to say. It's far, but for me it's worth it. The distance may even be part of it for me - like disappearing into a book (if only i had a magical wardrobe to travel through, and not the broken British train system, that has my heart in my mouth every time.) Most people wouldn't even consider it, but i'm not even sure i could feel the same excitement for someone ordinary and convenient. Maybe that's part of what makes me do it...I want extraordinary. But again, not for everyone, I acknowledge.




But it is fucking glorious!

I'm assuming most won't, I'm not unreaslitc about how this all works.

The biggest difficulty for men I can see so far, (in the week I've been here) is actually starting communication at all.

The percentage of messages that are actually viewed is very low, never mind replied to.

I was working it out earlier....I search in a reasonably wide age group - 40-59 over London and the four south eastern counties. Set the search results to show by last time on line so I'm not being shown dead/old profiles.

I also use the matchmaker on the same settings.

I've sent out over 100 messages this week, less than 20% read, fewer replied to.

It's the low percentage read that surprised me....I would less suprising to find them read then not responded to, but simply just not opened at all......it's an uphill struggle.

I've got 10 weeks to see what comes of it.
