First date
When do you know it's time to suggest going for dinner on a first date? Or are first date drinks more appropriate? x

@funguy77, I appreciate you're a tall scotsman...
Where I went to school, tall referred to height not length.
I'll let you toss the caber, as you're clearly an expert. My talents lie in other areas and I don't need to 'blow' or strut like a capercaillieš

When your connecting messages are flowing, both parties relaxed in chatting when email or mobile no given

We agreed to meet in the Walker Art Gallery, L'pool at noon on our first date. We met in front of the massive Victorian painting of wolves having a stand off over fallen prey in the snow (both of us being dog lovers). We seemed to click and so I suggested lunch at a nearby restaurant and she welcomed the idea.
Went in and conversation continued smoothly, or so I thought. Ordered , drinks and two starters . She explained that she had to go and 'powder her nose' in the Ladies Room. 20 minutes later, I'm still sitting there with the drinks on the table and starter dishes and trying to catch the waiter's eye to ask for a bill because my lovely companion has done a runner without saying goodbye.
So in my opinion, better to stick to coffee or a drink in a bar on a first date. The female of the species can be deadlier than the male.....woof, woof!

Itās always good to go on a ācoffee dateā the first time and then you can suss each other out and this works for meā¦.
Itās much easier to āwalk awayā if there is zero chemistryā¦you can have lunch if you prefer but if you donāt like the OP then itās going to be a longgggg lunch..š
You can āsleepā with the OP on the first date but I wouldnāt recommend it ā¦invariably we are all grown up and it shouldnāt matter but itās not really healthy to do ONSā¦there are people on here that are ālooking ā for that but if you are looking for something more substantial and long term then think about what you are about to embark on š

@Funguy77, sorry, that slot's been taken... you'll have to join the queue further back, unless you're tall!š
As regards the question, better to have an informal meeting, like coffee, sooner rather than later imo. Otherwise, you might be spinning your wheels with a fantasist, who has no intention of meeting in real lifeš

I think conversation can be awkward but all depends on your build upā¦ for personal reasons Iāve been unable to physically meet Mr13th even though we started chatting 1to1 since 1st Jan, but weāve been FaceTime and leaving VM messages so know nothing will be awkward when we meet ā¦.. well I hope š¤šš¼š¤

If i was to go one way, I would say Iām more people pleasure, so if it was dinner on first meet, no matter how painful (to a point obvs) I would endure a main course etc . At least with a drink you can politely be in and quicker, or if itās great thereās never a shortage of restaurants/bars to eat in last minā¦Short answer, never a dinner on first date for me, nah nada no, keep it exciting and spontaneous
